MASHED! HOMEBREWING
MICRO TOURNAMENTS
2025
Think you can brew the best Ale, German Beer, Dark Beer or ‘Weird ’n Wonderful’ brew?
Compete in the 2025 MASHED Homebrew Micro Tournaments to win the glory, the homebrewer’s cup(s) and a £50 homebrewing voucher from MASHED!
Several people who came to the MASHED Homebrew Tournament last year suggested that it would be awesome to have the opportunity to mingle with fellow homebrewers, chat about homebrewing, sample each others’ brews, and have a good ol’ knees-up. So this is what we’re going to do this year: four homebrew Micro Tournaments, each with a cup presentation party at MASHED Community Brewhouse in Aberystwyth. With all the judging done before the events so there’s more time to party and sample. All the Micro Tournaments and parties are free to enter. Yeah!

THE CATEGORIES & IMPORTANT DATES
Get ready to raise your glasses and fire up those kettles! Over the next 12 months, we’re bringing
you four epic Micro Homebrew Competitions, each dedicated to a unique beer style.
Whether you're a seasoned brewer or just getting started, this is your chance to show off your skills,
experiment with flavors, and claim bragging rights.
Enter your beer into one, two, or all four—the choice is yours! Every event will be a celebration of
craft, creativity, and community. So dust off those recipe books, prep your fermenters, and let’s make some
unforgettable brews together. 🍻
Think you’ve got what it takes? Let’s see what you can brew up!
COMP 1
A classic British IPA has that rich, malty backbone with earthy, floral hop notes—but if you want to crank
things up, loading it with hops could take it to a whole new level.
You could stick to traditional UK hops like Fuggle or East Kent Goldings for a refined, balanced
bitterness. Or, if you’re feeling adventurous, throw in some modern British varieties like Jester or Olicana
for bold citrus and tropical twists. Maybe even dry-hop it aggressively to get that aroma bursting out of the
glass.
Registration deadline: 1st October 2025
Send in your beer: 2nd Sep - 2nd Oct 2025
Cup presentation party date: Saturday 11th October 2025
COMP 2
It’s time to bring those crisp, refreshing lagers and pilsners into the spotlight where they belong.
Oktoberfest is the perfect excuse to showcase clean, crushable brews with depth and character.
So dust off those steins, dial in those fermentation temps, and let’s celebrate the art of lagering!
Whether it’s a malty Märzen, a snappy Pilsner, or something experimental, this is the season to let those
bottom-fermented beauties shine.
Registration deadline: 1st October 2025
Send in your beer: 2nd Sep - 2nd Oct 2025
Cup presentation party date: Saturday 11th October 2025
COMP 3
For those who love depth, richness, and complexity, this category is all about the darker side of beer.
Whether it’s the silky, roasted character of a stout, the smooth maltiness of a porter, or the balanced
bitterness of a classic British bitter, we want to see your best dark brews take center stage.
Think chocolatey stouts, smoky porters, full-bodied milds, or even modern twists—like coffee-infused
dark ales or barrel-aged beauties. If it’s bold, flavorful, and beautifully balanced, it belongs here!
Registration deadline: 26th Nov 2025
Send in your beer: 27th Oct - 27th Nov 2025
Cup presentation party date: Saturday 6th December 2025
COMP 4
This category is for the bold, the curious, and the wildly creative. If you’ve got a beer that defies
expectations—whether it’s brewed with foraged ingredients, an unexpected flavor pairing, or a style that
pushes boundaries—this is your chance to showcase it.
Think botanical infusions, hybrid styles, obscure brewing techniques, or wild yeast experiments. Maybe
it’s a seaweed stout, a smoked elderflower saison, or a beer inspired by ancient brewing traditions—whatever
it is, we want to see the most unique and daring creations.
Registration deadline: 8th April 2026
Send in your beer: 23rd March - 9th April 2026
Cup presentation party date: Saturday 18th April 2026
